The 3D images of our baby are amazing. But even better is the graph of his heartbeat, 158 BPM. And it is "his", confirmed we're having a son. My baby is still alive, I now have over 100 pictures of him, and he weighs about 2 lbs 2 oz. I can't fathom it. My pessimistic side says this shouldn't be happening. But it's utterly incredible how far we've come.

The appointment was a little difficult, apparently our baby is just camera shy. The sonographer was able to get a few face shots and verify the sex but then he went as low as he could and faced my back. So they had me drink water and wait ten minutes. If I hadn't already seen him twisting in there, I would have had a meltdown if they'd told me to wait. I was told to go back out to the waiting room and wait when the sonographer couldn't find Robin's heartbeat but I didn't know that's what was going on at the time. So to have to go out and wait again would have given me an all out panic attack if we hadn't already seen him moving.

The cold water kind of made him wiggle but I figured I'd give him what I've noticed actually makes him dance: music! So I had Mike pull up music on his phone and I put the speaker on my belly and sure enough, "No More Mr. Nice Guy", "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Eye of the Tiger" got him going. We all agreed that everyone has their own little tricks for their own baby. He also perked up when "Under the Sea" came on over their music system, which couldn't have made me prouder. It probably sounds nuts, but he has Mike's hands. His knuckles were so clear, many of the pictures are of his left hand up by his face. His lips are full, and unfortunately it looks like he got my nose.

The session was a little over $100 and I think it was worth every penny. This was Mike's and my Valentine's Day gift to each other. Spend the money on this and not on smaller gifts. We also went and picked up the stroller we wanted from Target. It's a three wheeler from Graco, and even though the design isn't my first choice, the actual build of it won me over. It was a bit of an expensive day but totally and completely worth it.
